Who is Jesus? A Lenten Journey through John – Day 8

Published February 20, 2018
Read John 5:19-47 The authority of Jesus is from the God the Father. But it is not as a servant or an employee, it grows from their intimate connection. God the Son, Jesus, does the works of His Father; he can do no other. To hear and follow the words of the Son gives us eternal life, for all judgement has been given to Jesus. Jesus seeks only the will of his Father, and we know His testimony is true because it follows the rule of having three witnesses. John came as a lamp to point the way to the coming Lord; Jesus’s own miraculous works are different. They show the compassion of His Father who sent Him, and also fulfill the words of the Old Testament which bear witness to Jesus Prayer Heavenly Father, help us always to see the true light in your son, our Lord Jesus. In him, you have given all power and authority. And in his holy name, we come to you. Amen.
