Read John 11:1-57
“If only . . . if only Jesus were here, sick Lazarus would get well. WHY hasn’t He come?” Little did Mary and Martha know that the three days Jesus delayed were for a reason – God’s reason . . . so that the Jews would experience His miracle displaying God’s glory and God’s power over death. Even though Lazarus was dead four days, both Mary and Martha BELIEVED that Jesus could save him . . . God can bring good out of a bad situation.
Some professed faith in Jesus, but others saw Him as a threat to their relatively peaceful existence with Rome. His miracles rock the boat! Destroy this troublemaker! Then Rome will leave us alone! Unfortunately, our own personal situation often distorts and blurs our vision of Jesus Christ. Please God, give us clarity.
Prayer
Gracious Lord, sometimes we doubt because you don’t do what we want when we want it to happen. Give me clarity of vision, to see you at work, and faith to trust in your timing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
